Our etching machines process stainless steel (304, 316, 430), copper, brass, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys and most engineering metals, as well as the copper layer on FR4 for printed circuit boards. Different metals need different etchants (ferric chloride for steel/copper, acidic peroxide for aluminum, alkaline ammonia for fine-line PCB).
Tolerances down to about ±0.01–0.025 mm are achievable depending on the metal, its thickness and the machine configuration. For PCB, 25–50 µm line/space is standard on a conveyor etcher. For metal parts, minimum feature size scales with material thickness — typically 1:1 ratio.
